Rebecca Clematis Clematis Rebecca, the commercial name of Clematis Patens Rebecca Evipo016. This is the best colour of red we have ever seen, almost a 'pillarbox red'!

Named after Raymond Evison's oldest daughter Rebecca this beauty has become a favorite of gardeners everywhere in the world.

Rebecca will give two flowers per year, the first spring on the escape of the previous year and the second fall on the shoots of summer is a very free flowering Clematis that flowers May to September.

Flowers are scarlet red with cream yellow anthers, and attracts butterflies, hummingbirds and beneficial pollinators.

The Rebecca clematis is easy to grow in a moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and full sun to part shade. Though it tolerates dry periods when established, it will appreciate an occasional watering in prolonged periods of dry weather. Make sure not to plant this one too deep as it tends to smother the plant. See pruning instructions just below.

Clematis Patens Rebecca Evipo016 is in pruning group 2. Clematis in this group should be pruned lightly in late winter or early spring - in plants aged 1 year, all shoots are pruned at a height of about 30 cm; in plants over two years, all shoots are cut off at an altitude of 150 cm.

An alternate method of pruning Group 2 clematis is to prune only every three or four years. This will produce a weak first flush of flowers in the summer after pruning.
